JMT Day 4: Donahue Pass

Destination: Marie Lake Trail Jct.
Starting Location: a little past Vogelsang Trail Jct.
Today's Miles: 10.00
Trip Miles: 44.00

Donahue Pass

Hiked a good amount today. It was quite a joy! Donahue pass was very fun but challenging. A considerable amount of snow remained but it was easy to find the trail.

Donahue was one of my favorite passes. Crossing the stream before ascending was fun and the view from the top was one of the best during the first half of the JMT! We'd heard a lot about difficulty in the snow, but it was more fun than dangerous!

View back to Lyell Canyon

After Donahue Pass we entered the Ansel Adams Wilderness.

Donahue Pass
The trail on the other side was completely covered in snow, but there was a definite path in the snow.  We slid our way down until we decided it was time to set up camp.
