JMT Day 20: Bighorn Plateau

Wednesday, August 10, 2011 Destination: Guitar Lake                     Today's Miles: 15.70 Starting Location: Forester Pass                Trip Miles: 213.40  Today we woke up late and didn't know how far we wanted to go. We decided we could probably make it to Guitar Lake and then wake up early the next morning to make it to Whitney's Summit for sunrise. Campsite above Forester Pass View from Forester Pass  Hiking the Bighorn Plateau was quite desert like. There was a very nice view of Whitney. We met a ranger who told us there were lots of people at Guitar Lake. We never actually saw many of them because it was dark the entire time we were there. I believe we made it to Guitar Lake around 10 or 10:30. The hike down Forester Pass was pretty easy. It probably would have been harder going up.
